“THE DNA DETECTIVE”

Saturday, April 10, 2021
Virtual (Online) Conference
10:00 AM to 3:45 PM CDT

10:30 AM to 11:30 AM – Autosomal DNA
Theory: The Dos and Don’ts of Genetic
Genealogy – company algorithms, what constitutes
genetic evidence
. This session will focus on
understanding key concepts necessary to go to the
next level with autosomal DNA research. This will
include the scope of atDNA and realistic expectations
of the depth of coverage, randomness of inheritance,
expected percentages versus observed ranges, and the
pros and cons of segment triangulation.

11:45 AM to 12:45 PM – Resolving Unknown
Parentage Mysteries with DNA.
Adoptees and
other individuals without knowledge of their
genealogy are enjoying significant success using DNA
testing to discover their roots. Techniques used in this
quest will be explained and explored through case
studies.

12:45 PM to 1:30 PM – Break for lunch

1:30 PM to 2:30 PM – Genetic Genealogy Case
Studies
. Step-by-step case studies demonstrate the use
of all four types of DNA in conjunction with traditional
research to solve genealogical mysteries and showcase
the exciting possibilities this work offers.

2:45 PM to 3:45 PM – Real Life Cases from the
Desk of a DNA Detective
– DNA testing is
revealing unexpected surprises in the family trees of
many individuals, involving both immediate and more
distant ancestors. These surprises often lead to
fascinating stories that could never have been
unearthed without DNA and this newfound
knowledge has taught us that our family trees on
paper may not always be the same as our true genetic
genealogy. After learning of its potential to reveal and
unravel complex family relationships, many are
flocking to DNA testing to solve their own family
mysteries. We will explore the research behind some
of CeCe’s high profile cases, including law
enforcement applications.
