Monica Zendejas of Omaha will present the program. In her words: “I have been researching my family ancestry for over 25 years.  I am 1/2 Sicilian.  My grandparents were born in Carlentini, Sicily (as were about 1/2 the Italian population in Omaha’s “Little Italy”)  I am the Genealogy Director for the Sicilian Heritage Society, a Family History Consultant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and have been a volunteer at the LDS Family History Center in Omaha for 8 years and also volunteer at the LDS Family History Center in Papillion.”  
Monica will discuss:
  • How to find Italian records on the LDS films. 
  • Reading the Birth (Nati), Marriage (Matrimoni) and Death (Morte) records, 
  • What is the difference between  atto di solenne promessa di matrimonio, atto di matrimonio, processetti or allegati,  and pubblicazioni or notificazione records?
  • Italian naming traditions
